Kitchen Remodeling in Sandy Springs, GA

Sandy Springs is the least uniform place we work, which means a kitchen here starts with a longer look at the house than it does anywhere else on our list.

Two kitchens a mile apart, from two different decades

Nearly twenty-nine percent of Sandy Springs housing predates 1980 and the 1980s is the largest decade, but those averages hide the widest neighborhood-level variation of any town we serve. Two houses a mile apart here can be twenty-five years apart in age, on different lot shapes, with different mechanical systems and completely different assumptions about where a kitchen belongs. That is why a Sandy Springs kitchen brief takes a longer Discovery visit than the same brief in Johns Creek, where we already know most of the answers before we arrive. The practical consequence is a sequencing one. In a house of this age the mechanical, electrical and plumbing work and the plan work are frequently confused for one another, and the money question is not whether to do both — it is that doing the systems work while the walls are already open is what makes the plan work affordable at all. Getting that argument on the table during design is most of what we bring to a kitchen here.

The same caveat everywhere: cabinetry sets the end date

Whatever town the house is in, custom and semi-custom cabinetry runs eight to fourteen weeks from approved drawings, and it is almost always the longest lead time in a kitchen. That is why we order it during the design phase rather than after demolition, and it is why a kitchen that starts with a signed design agreement in January is not a kitchen that finishes in March. Any firm telling you otherwise is either not designing or not busy.

What this covers

Each of these is a service in its own right, offered in Sandy Springs and everywhere else we work. What follows is how it goes in Sandy Springs specifically, rather than a fifteenth thing we do.

  • Kitchens

Layout first, then everything else. Most of our kitchens move a wall.

  • Custom Cabinetry

Rooms that fit their house instead of fitting a catalogue's increments.

  • Floor Plan Reconfiguration

The square footage is right. The walls are in the wrong places.
