What we did here
The clients asked for a curbless shower because they liked how it looked. They were also in their late fifties in a house they intend to stay in, and that second fact shaped a dozen decisions they did not ask about — blocking in the walls, the lighting at night, the swing of the door, the height of the vanity.
None of it looks like anything. That is the standard: aging-in-place work done well is invisible, and the only genuinely visible element is a grab bar, which is not installed here and will take twenty minutes when it is.
Curbless needs the slope built into the floor structure, which is why it has to be decided during design. Over a crawl space you drop the joists. On a slab it is a different conversation and sometimes the answer is no.
Aging-in-place work done well is invisible. The blocking is in the wall and the grab bar is not on it yet.
